Limits and Restrictions

Hotline limits the number of messages and Telegram system updates passing through the system from connections to protect against flooding and reasonable billing.

The system also carefully complies with Telegram requirements for message delivery intensity to backend groups, even with a large incoming message flow.

Free Version System Limits

Limit Maximum Value
Number of messages 500 per day total for all administrator connections
Number of Telegram updates 2500 per day total for all administrator connections
Number of simultaneously active connections 10
Messages in broadcasts 500 per month total for all administrator connections
System actions when exceeding Hotline limits
  • In case of exceeding limits, Hotline continues to work normally, but a day counter with exceedances is activated

  • Administrator receives notification in backend groups and setup bot about the occurred exceedance or approach to limits

  • When the counter reaches 10 days with exceedances, the system starts disabling administrator instances immediately after reaching the allowed limit

  • In case of multiple limit exceedances, all corresponding administrator instances are instantly disabled

  • Thus, the administrator has at least 10 days (if exceedances occur every day) to agree on necessary limits with support service and purchase a paid tariff plan to expand functionality and reset the limit violation counter

Paid users have access to extended limits according to the selected tariff plan.

General Telegram Limitations

Limitation Value
Number of topics in group Any
Number of messages in group Any
Intensity of incoming messages to topic group 20 per minute from one bot
System actions when exceeding Telegram limits
  • When exceeding the maximum number of incoming messages per minute to one group from a bot, Telegram starts requesting an additional pause before sending the next message to the group.

  • In this case, Hotline activates the incoming message queue, in which it places incoming messages so they are not lost. Then Hotline sends messages from the queue to the group in compliance with Telegram requirements (one message every 3 seconds).

  • With each increase in active queue size by 20 messages, Hotline will send a message about this to the backend group.

  • The maximum active queue size by default is 300 messages. When this size is exceeded, messages start being lost.

  • With an active queue, operators should slow down the pace of communication with users and wait for the queue to finish working. If work continues, users will receive operator responses, but new user messages will go to the end of the queue and be delivered to the group with significant delay.
